 Hello, I’m Steven Spielberg.
And I’m pleased to congratulate the
supporters of the starlight starbright children’s foundation
who have established the chapter in Japan.
Now this will mean so much to the Japanese children and all
their families, because children living with serious illness
have been robbed of some of lives of greatest experiences,
a freedom to play, a freedom to dream and a freedom to explore
the world as only childness have.
Well the others are searching for cures and helping to prevent
disease, we must find ways to enhance the quality of life
of children and families who are living with illness today.
Starlight starbright does find ways to allow kids to be kids
to forget for a moment that they are sick and we continue
to pioneer the use of media and entertainment to brighten
their lives.
Because we never forget when the child is in seriously ill,
the entire family is affected.
Our programs and services help children and their families
make sense of their medical experiences and allow them to
spend more time outside the confines of the hospitals and
I think the most importantly help them realize that they are
not alone in their battle.
As chairman emeritus of Starlight
starbright children’s foundation, I applaud your dedication
and I wish you well for the years ahead.

スターライト・スターブライト子供財団の、日本支部設立おめでとうございます。
これは日本の難病のこども達とその家族に大きな意味を持ちます。
難病のこども達はこども時代にのみ経験できる遊びや夢、未知の世界を体験する自由を失います。
病気の治療は専門家に任せ、我々がすべき事は難病のこども達とその家族の生活を明るく楽しくする事です。
こども達が病気である事を忘れ、子供らしく、毎日を明るく過ごせるように様々なプログラムを開発しています。
こども達が病気になると家族にも大きな影響を与えます。
また、私達の活動により治療への理解を深め、閉ざされた院内から外の世界をより多く体験でき、病気と闘うのが自分一人ではないという意識が持てます。
私は名誉会長として、日本支部の貢献にエールを送り、これからの活動を心より応援しております。

■難病と闘うこども達に、勇気と夢を。
特定非営利活動法人スターライト･スターブライト･チルドレンズファンデーション・ジャパンは、日本での支援活動に乗り出します。
世界的に知られる二つの財団「スターライト子供財団」と「スターブライト財団」が2004年7月3日に統合されたことにより「スターライト・スターブライト子供財団」が誕生しました。難病に苦しむこども達とその家族にとって2004年7月3日は記念すべき日といえるのではないでしょうか。
スティーブン・スピルバーグ氏を名誉会長に、アメリカ・メイク・ア･ウィッシュ財団のポーラ・バン・ネス氏を新CEOに迎え、年間200万人以上のこども達とその家族に勇気と希望と喜びを支援する世界有数のボランティア団体の一員として、新たなスタートを切ったのです。
すでに、アメリカ、カナダ、イギリス、オーストラリアにおいて、様々な支援活動を展開しています。
この度設立しました「スターライト･スターブライト･チルドレンズファンデーション・ジャパン」の目的は、「スターライト・スターブライト子供財団」の日本支部として、難病を持ち、長期の入院、治療と闘いながら純粋に生きているこども達とその家族の孤独感や苦痛を和らげ、難病に立ち向かう勇気や希望・喜びを持ってもらい少しでも願いが叶えられるようにお手伝いをすることです。
「スターライト･スターブライト･チルドレンズファンデーション・ジャパン」の主役は、難病と闘うこども達自身です。
私たちは、こども達とその家族の人生を輝かせるために、希望の光を照らし続けていきたいと思います。
